A node is a computer that keeps its own full copy of the blockchain. Every time a new block arrives, the node checks it against the rules: are the signatures valid, and is anyone spending coins they don’t have? If something breaks the rules, the node rejects it, even if a miner made it, and thousands of nodes around the world do this independently, so no single company is in charge. Miners add blocks, but nodes decide which ones count. Lesson 11 of Crypto Basics from HashedMax. Previous lesson: What is a 51% attack?
