Scammers Claim Son Jailed, Steal Thousands via Bitcoin Kiosk

Scammers Claim Son Jailed, Steal Thousands via Bitcoin KioskThe Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents after scammers targeted a local woman, claiming her son had been jailed and needed bond money. The caller pressured her into depositing $18,000 into a Bitcoin kiosk twice and attempted to re-victimize her a third time. Authorities say law enforcement and courts will never demand payment over the phone or through cryptocurrency. Anyone receiving a similar call should hang up, contact loved ones directly, and report it to authorities.
