New figures released by Stats NZ on Thursday continue to paint a grim picture of the New Zealand workforce. To date in 2025, the number of filled jobs sits at 2,327,916, a drop of 17,446 for the same time last year. Since the coalition gained power in 2023, there are 37,959 fewer jobs available for New Zealanders. “It’s clearly tough. The job losses you are seeing are considerable, and we’re seeing them come across a wide variety of industries,” economist and CEO of Infometrics Brad Olsen told Stuff’s Sam Hayes on Thursday. Construction continues to be the biggest loser, with 10,214 fewer jobs than last year, and 18,427 since 2023 when the coalition came into power.| Subscribe: https://bit.ly/2JPg8oB Read more: For full coverage visit Subscribe to our channel
