Sad the way the energy and size of the bitcoin community is shrinking with
the price. I don’t see bitcoin going away but I also don’t see anything
holding up the price during 2015. We could drop into the single digits
again.
I still see a bright future for bitcoin though. If the usual pattern holds,
we’re about to drop into the next financial crisis (late this year or early
next year). When that happens capital controls will try to trap people’s
money and prevent them from fleeing before government seizure. In order to
move money through capital controls people are going to need bitcoin. That
will tend to push the energy of the community upward along with the price.
I used to buy bitcoin but as the price dropped eventually I got disgusted
with it. Now I’m on the sidelines and I’m putting my surplus income
elsewhere. In time though, probably in early 2016 I’ll be a buyer again. I
suspect I’ll be able to get more bitcoin for my buck by then.
