Authorities say D’Zyre Youngblood, 28, of Atlanta, was arrested for allegedly helping run a phone scam that impersonated law enforcement officers and threatened victims with jail unless they paid thousands of dollars. Investigators with the Volusia Sheriff’s Office Financial Crimes Unit tracked her through Bitcoin wallet transactions after a local woman lost $79,000 believing she was speaking with a sheriff’s captain. Youngblood now faces grand theft and organized scheme to defraud charges. Officials say the scam operation is linked to inmates in Georgia prisons working with people outside, and warn the public to hang up immediately if someone calls demanding money while posing as law enforcement.
