Scammers Targeted the WRONG 80-Year-OldAn 80-year-old South Florida man was moments away from losing his life savings in a Bitcoin ATM scam before Sunrise Police stepped in just in time. According to investigators, scammers posing as Chase Bank employees convinced the victim that his bank account had been compromised and pressured him to withdraw cash and deposit it into a Bitcoin ATM to “protect” his money. Bodycam footage shows officers arriving while the victim was still on the phone with the scammers and actively feeding cash into the machine. Police say the victim had already lost more than $50,000 before officers intervened.
