🚨 SCAM ALERT: Rise in Cryptocurrency Romance Scams We are seeing a sharp rise in cryptocurrency romance scams targeting all ages—especially older adults. Scammers use online relationships to trick victims into investing in fake cryptocurrency platforms, stealing their life savings! Some of these criminals even search obituaries and public records for potential targets. While our Detective Bureau works to help families recover, Detective Pitts advises, “Discuss scam warning signs with family and friends, use extreme caution when using Bitcoin machines, and if someone says NOT to call police, RUN to the sheriff’s office.” Call the Sheriff’s office as soon as possible: 740-833-2800.
